The National Art Education Association promotes art education through professional development, service, advancement of knowledge and leadership as you can see in their website at www.naea-reston.org/. Their national conference will be held in Chicago March 22-26, 2006.
Novice art teachers need all the support they can get! This blog will be a connection and forum for those teachers during this formative time period. Current topics will be posted, common problems will be collaboratively discussed, and advice on a variety of issues will be rendered. Think of this space as an online mentor.
My 35 year teaching career includes every learning environment from Head Start to college, in metropolitan situations and small rural schools. Over the course of my career I have gained valuable experiences which I would like to share with new educators. I know there are other experienced art teachers who will also want to participate in this project. I think it's important for novice art teachers to have a chance to collaborate with other art teachers about important issues or just ask questions about content, skills or suppliers.
